Illegal MPSC Coaching Classes in Pune Under Police Radar: Commissioner Warns of Strict Action

Pune: In a decisive move against the increasing number of unauthorized coaching classes in the city, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has sounded a stern warning to MPSC tuition class operators functioning without valid permissions. The crackdown comes in the wake of recent protests by aspirants, allegedly instigated by class operators themselves.

Last week, a late-night protest erupted at Faraskhana Police Station, where aspirants were reportedly encouraged by coaching center owners to demand changes in exam schedules and policies. Following this, the Pune Police summoned several coaching class operators and warned them of strict legal action if they continue operations without fulfilling required legal compliances such as permissions from the municipal corporation, fire department, and local police.

Coaching Centers May Face Action Without Proper Authorization

According to police sources, many coaching classes in Pune, especially those catering to competitive exams like MPSC and UPSC, are running without municipal approval or fire safety clearances. Commissioner Kumar emphasized that these violations pose serious risks to student safety and public order.

He stated, “We’ve observed that some classes not only violate safety and operational regulations but are also misguiding students for their own financial gain. Any class found operating illegally will face strict action under relevant laws.”

Rising Protests Spark Investigation

Recent protests by MPSC aspirants—some stretching late into the night—have prompted a deeper probe. The police suspect that coaching institutes and private study room operators are fueling these protests to pressure authorities. These demonstrations, though seemingly student-led, have often involved unrelated individuals and escalated tensions unnecessarily.

Sources suggest that some institutes are using protests as a tactic to delay exams or oppose administrative decisions made by the MPSC or UPSC commissions. Authorities now plan to keep protest instigators under close surveillance and expand their scrutiny beyond coaching classes to individual agitators.

Pune Police Commissioner’s Statement

Commissioner Kumar confirmed that a comprehensive inspection drive is underway across Pune to ensure all coaching classes comply with the law. “Any coaching institute violating safety norms or lacking the necessary permissions will not be spared,” he warned.

The Pune Police are committed to protecting student welfare while ensuring educational institutions operate responsibly. Coaching center owners are now under pressure to regularize their operations or risk being shut down by the authorities.
